Hello friends of liberty! I am Josiah Neff, the new organizer of this meetup group. Let me first tell you a little about myself and the direction that I am likely to be taking this group. I am also the organizer for the LP Atlanta meetup and also serve as the Director of E-Networking for LP Atlanta. I have been working with LP Atlanta and using our group to promote liberty and grow the party and the party presence within the city of Atlanta. If you're not already with LP Atlanta, we are one of the newest and most active affiliates of the Libertarian Party of Georgia. We just got our start in January of 2009 and have already accomplished quite a bit. We have had booths at Vans Warped Tour and the Atlanta Pride Festival, we've been present at tea party protest and protests of the police raid of the Atlanta Eagle, and we've even had press statements posted on Creative Loafing and other local media. Already in just a year we've accomplished so much, yet we're just getting started. Next year brings another election cycle and lots more work that we can do to promote liberty here in our own city. Of course, we're not always all work. We always recognize the value of a good opportunity to relax and just socialize with other liberty minded people. So we've decided that we're going to have a holiday party this month to celebrate all that we've accomplished and to just enjoy each others company. The party will be held at the home of our friend Dorothy. To avoid having to charge anyone to attend, we have decided to make the event a potluck. We are all planning on bringing something ourselves but everyone bringing an item of their own will help scale the event to the size of our group, plus it will help us to feed those of different diets. Alcohol is also fine but you will have to bring that yourself as well.
We're looking for items along these lines: 1 Main Entree (meat) 1 Main Entree (non-meat i.e. fish or veggie) 3 Sides (pasta, rice, veggies, etc) 2 or 3 desserts Paper plates, utensils, cups Soft drinks (Coke, Sprite, Dr P) The address of the event is 1061 West Paces Ferry Road, NW, Atlanta, 30327. If you have any other questions about the event, or need help getting there, you can either contact me here or call me at 770-401-2890.

I know there are plenty of folks out there who wanted to attend on Sunday but could not -- so here is our chance to regroup and do it again. All our friends will be contacted regarding this new Rally, and Ike will be posting this on C4L. Please spread the word far and wide - we are winning! Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this time!

You are cordially invited to this event by the Treasurer of the Libertarian Party of Atlanta and many of his closest friends: In response to the Rick Santelli's rant on CNBC, there is now a nationwide "Chicago Tea Party" to be held this Friday Feb 27. In order to synchronize with this national event, the local Atlanta Tax Protest will hold the protest this Friday as well (instead of next monday as originally planned). Here are some url's for more info:

The rules are:
You can bring pictures of pitchforks, but not actual pitchforks. Use cardboard tubes rather than wooden stakes to hold your sign. If you have a concealed carry permit, leave the weapon at home. Show up to have some fun! UPDATE: Here are the date, time, and place: Date: Friday, 27 February, 2009. Time: 12:00 PM, high noon. Place: The Georgia Capitol Building - look for the gold dome.

You are cordially invited by Jay Whitney, leader of the North Fulton Libertarians, to come to a special joint meeting to meet Johns Creek City Councilperson Karen Richardson -- the only current elected Libertarian officeholder in Georgia! Richardson will be speaking about how libertarians can be elected to non-partisan positions and how libertarians can be effective once elected. Very few people have strong opinions on most local issues, and so learning more about how to get involved at the local level is a great way of making a difference at the grassroots. It is also a great place to start if you ever consider running for office. One other note: the North Fulton Libertarians are an organized Libertarian Party affiliate, and the Greater Atlanta Libertarian Meetup is not. If you are a member of GALM but live in North Fulton, consider this as an opportunity to get involved with your local LP affiliate. If you want to attend the meeting but live inside the perimeter, members of the newly organized Libertarian Party of Atlanta will be there to discuss their upcoming activities. (Again, this is a different group from the Greater Atlanta Libertarian Meetup). For more info about the event, go to www.meetup.com/North -Fulton-Libertarians /calendar/9615810 or call 770-842-7581.

Dear all: Due to the number of RSVPs, we must change the location of the meeting Thursday night. We now meet at Manuel's Tavern in the North Avenue Room at the same time (8:00 PM). The address and phone number are availble on the Meetup site and the forthcoming reminder email. Since Manuel's graciously allows groups to use their rooms for free, please remember the following: 1) If you RSVPed yes, attend the meeting. We do not want to waste their space. 2) There is still time for you to RSVP yes! There will be some changes forthcoming in the group, and this will be a very exciting time for you to get involved and have a say. 3) Manuel's will not split checks, so please do one of the following: BRING CASH to pay for what you buy, or start an individual tab at the bar (for some reason they will do this but not split checks. I haven't quite figured it out). I apologize for the lateness of this change. The Brewhouse is very busy on Thursday nights and they do not have separate meeting rooms or take reservations. So there was a large chance that we would have ended up not all being able to sit together. Someone will be at the Brewhouse to make sure that any stragglers who don't get this message get re-directed to the right place. Below is the text of the original meeting info: **** Please join us for our regular monthly meetup (which we have not had for a while due to a long campaign season). This meeting will be both a social time and a chance to plan an outreach event within the Atlanta metro. We will discuss and decide on several ideas and will leave with a definite plan for some type of outreach. If you have an idea that you care greatly about, please let me know about it in advance and we can add it to the agenda. If you have an idea, please provide me with the date, location, cost, any materials needed, and what we would be trying to accomplish. Look forward to seeing you soon, Mike

Hi everybody: You are cordially invited to our first post-election event -- a holiday party sponsored by the newly-forming Libertarian Party of Atlanta! (not to be confused with this meetup, the Greater ATL Libertarian Meetup!) This is the first public event for that group and they would like to have a strong turnout. Since we are guests of their event, RSVPs right now for this group are limited to 10. The RSVP deadline is December 6th, and there is a charge for the event due at your RSVP. If you want to RSVP after the limit or deadline, email me and we'll see what we can do, but there are no guarantees. Please read below for full details. Hope we'll see you there! Mike You are invited to join us for the 1st Annual Libertarian Party of Atlanta Holiday Party! LP-ATL is just getting off the ground, so this is a great time to network with other Atlanta libertarians and get involved in the very important task of creating a vital, dynamic local party right in the belly of the beast. There is an RSVP limit although this can be raised if there is strong interest. Because we will be catering with Manuel's, and we must place the order in advance, you will need to contribute $8 with your RSVP. This will cover a basic spread of light appetizers; you can run an individual tab for dinner and drinks. We also request that you bring one unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. Atlanta has a lot of interesting, energetic libertarians, so come and be part!

Hello everyone, it's Austin Petersen. I wanted to invite everyone to a canvassing workshop in the morning at 9AM, attendance is optional, but if you need materials to hand out, and want some training and scripts, I will be glad to give everyone some tips and coffee before you head out for the day. Also if you plan on attending, please send me an email at austin.petersen@lp.o rg with the district you live in so we can get a good map for you to use. Thanks, Austin EVENT DETAIL CHANGES: This event is now being coordinated by the National Libertarian Party's Volunteer Coordinator Austin Petersen. Please keep an eye out for further communication on working in your neighborhood. Austin will be in touch soon with details. ONE VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE: Austin is hoping to get everyone together on Saturday morning for an informal training session. This will help the day go much more smoothly. Please let him know as soon as possible if you will be able to make it. His email is: austin.petersen@lp.o rg. This is a very special meetup designed to support all of our Libertarian candidates for office. We will be working in small, local neighborhood teams to campaign for these candidates. Then, at the end of the day, we will meet all together in one place for a "Barr-B-Q" where we can relax and unwind. If you're interested in coming, please RSVP to Meetup. When you RSVP you will be asked to respond to several questions. Please respond to these, as I am the only person who can see the response. You will be asked about your neighborhood and if you will be attending the Barr-B-Q. Also, you will be asked if you would like to help prepare the Barr-B-Q. You will see a $3.00 charge for this event. This is an optional, requested donation to help cover supplies and food. If you only want to come work, there's no charge. If you can't afford $3.00 but want to come to dinner, please still come. There will be a jar or bowl at the place. No one will hassle you about it.

Hi everybody -- We will be scheduling a Barr volunteer day every Saturday until the election. Please feel free to come when you can. Even if it's only one day for a couple hours, your help is still meaningful. Official hours for the day are 10-4, but feel free to do what you can. The address to Barr HQ is listed under the location, and you can look at previous meetups if you need a map. You can call HQ for driving directions if you get lost (800.BOB.BARR) The campaign staff has been really good about taking care of volunteers. Coffee and donuts are always available for breakfast, and really good pizza is always on hand for lunch. Everyone seems to have a fun time, so come out and join us!
