I have started a new meetup group -- The Yolo Bob Barr Meetup

Bob Barr is the Libertarian Party's Presidential candidate, having won the nomination at the Denver convention. He is a respected former Republican Congressman who joined the Libertarian Party two years ago.

He is strong on civil liberties and has seen the Libertarian light on many issues where he wasn't before. He is or has been working directly with the ACLU and Marijuana Policy Project and is a recent director of the NRA. He supports abolishing the IRS and the 16th amendment. He opposes REAL ID, the PATRIOT Act and the Military Commissions Act not to mention McCain-Feingold. He is in favor of pulling out of Iraq and not invading Iran. Barr opposes a border wall but favors strong immigration laws.

Even before the LP National Convention where he secured the nomination Barr was pulling 6% in the polls. He has very good name recognition and with Ron Paul comparisons, he could draw enough attention by this fall to meet the minimum threshold to be included in official debates which is 15%.
